What a great turnout we had
for our Ribbon Cutting! It was good to see so many of the
people that have been an important part of the building of
Faith Farm. Bed sponsors and those who have provided other
donations of finances and services mingled with our Chamber
of Commerce Ambassadors and Harvest Market customers
enjoying the beauty of the garden and wonderful
refreshments. Special thanks go to our own Heidi Moffat and
Karen Kewley as well as Mary Beth Davis (Port Lugano) and
Becky Cummings for providing many of the goodies. They were
great! Faith Farm Volunteer, DeAnn Cooper had her hands
full helping our customers that morning, she is such a
blessing. The ladybug release was fun and the little guys
are doing a good job ridding the garden of aphids.
The public’s response to our
Harvest Market on Tuesday and Friday mornings from
8:00-10:00 a.m. shows that there is a definite customer base
for produce grown locally and without harsh chemical
products. Our biggest problem has been not enough produce
as we are selling out each time before 10:00 a.m. Thank you
for being understanding if you don’t get those tomatoes
you’d hoped for!
The next big step for the
garden will be a plan incorporating the horticulture therapy
benefits of working in Faith Farm with the DAY CENTER clients.
Construction is underway at the DAY CENTER adding showers and
bathroom facilities and soon they will be ready for their
Ribbon Cutting and a whole new chapter will unfold for the
ministry to the homeless of our community. Please keep us
in your prayers.
God bless you all and happy
gardening!
